Besma Dental Family Centre provides sedation dentistry in Welland to control the fear associated with dental treatments. In the office, we provide nitrous oxide, oral sedation as well as intravenous (IV) sedation. For patients being seen in the operating room at Niagara Falls General Hospital, general anesthesia is offered.
Using nitrous gas (also known as laughing gas) will create a calming effect thereby making the patient feel more relaxed. In a few minutes, you will feel comfortable and unconcerned with the dental procedure taking place. Freezing to numb the area is still required. The benefit of using laughing gas is once the procedure is complete you can safely continue your normal routine without any side effects. At our clinic, we also use oral sedation to control the patient’s anxiety along with making him/her feel relaxed during the treatment. However, with oral sedation, you are encouraged not to eat three hours before the appointment and must be supervised upon leaving your appointment. We now offer IV sedation in all of our Niagara offices for anyone who feels anxiety or discomfort when visiting a dentist. Your dental procedure will be anxiety-free with IV sedation dentistry and without any stress or worries. Call us for more details.
As a dentist with hospital privileges, Dr. Rashid has the ability to see patients with special medical concerns in the operating room at the Niagara Falls General Hospital. Assessments are done in office and patients who qualify are scheduled through our office.
